The platform entitled "Boats and Boatbuilding in Modern Cultural Heritage" is a collective initiative of the aforementioned “collaborative bodies”.
The main aim is dual, to promote and communicate the need to:
Its foremost aim is to create awareness and exchange views regarding the safeguarding of wooden boatbuilding craftsmanship, as well as the permanent termination of the subsidized destruction of traditional fishing boats.
It is addressed to people of various backgrounds, such as professionals in boatbuilding, fishermen, scientists, researchers, people in management and education, young people, sea veterans, artists and visitors from around the world.
The platform hosts visual material (photos and videos) related to the craftsmanship of traditional boatbuilding and to the fishing boats, material for the current location of traditional boatyards and important wooden boats (declared or not as monuments by the Ministry of Culture) and additional evidence, which support the effort to save the wooden boatbuilding tradition in Greece.
