The platform entitled "Boats and Boatbuilding in Modern Cultural Heritage" is a collective initiative of the aforementioned “collaborative bodies”.

The main aim is dual, to promote and communicate the need to:

1. safeguard the boat – building craftsmanship
2. permanent cease the subsidized destruction of traditional fishing boats.
   

Its foremost aim is to create awareness and exchange views regarding the safeguarding of wooden boatbuilding craftsmanship, as well as the permanent termination of the subsidized destruction of traditional fishing boats.

It is addressed to people of various backgrounds, such as professionals in boatbuilding, fishermen, scientists, researchers, people in management and education, young people, sea veterans, artists and visitors from around the world.

The platform hosts visual material (photos and videos) related to the craftsmanship of traditional boatbuilding and to the fishing boats, material for the current location of traditional boatyards and important wooden boats (declared or not as monuments by the Ministry of Culture) and additional evidence, which support the effort to save the wooden boatbuilding tradition in Greece.

The platform’s aims and objectives are:

1. To raise public awareness for the promotion of wooden boatbuilding
2. To stimulate interdisciplinary support and documentation to keep the boatbuilding tradition alive as a form of intangible cultural heritage
3. To support the boatyards that make traditional wooden boats which are active today and the significant wooden boats that have been listed as monuments or identified as typical examples of traditional boatbuilding.
4. To develop a dialogue for the rescue of wooden fishing boats and permanently stop the program of subsidizing the destruction of wooden boats.
   

The platform "Boats and Boatbuilding in Modern Cultural Heritage", acts as a public space where material such as videos or testimonies (audio, visual or written or all three combined) can be uploaded, as well as texts and images.
